GRAMMY-winning vocalist and percussionist Braulio Barrera comes to Meyhouse Jazz with Afro-Cuban Rhythms & Latin Jazz — a celebration of the many rhythms and traditions that meet within Latin jazz.
Moving from the pulse of mambo and salsa to the warmth of bolero, samba, and bossa nova, the program travels across styles while leaving room for the spontaneity and musical conversation at the heart of jazz.
Barrera brings a deep connection to this music as both a singer and percussionist, blending rhythmic energy with expressive storytelling. He is joined by an accomplished Bay Area ensemble featuring Murray Low on piano, David Pinto on bass, Josh Jones on drums, and Michael O’Neill on saxophone.
Together, the quintet offers a wide-ranging journey through Afro-Cuban Rhythms and Latin jazz—rhythmic, soulful, and full of movement, with each tradition adding another color to the mosaic.
