Richard Howell is an American saxophonist, vocalist, composer, and educator celebrated for his dynamic improvisnal style and his concept of "Bridge Music," which seeks to unite diverse musical genres and cultures. Throughout his extensive career, he has colrated with a wide array of artists, including Etta James, Chaka Khan, Don Cherry, and Charlie Haden. As the leader of the ensemble Sudden Changeowell delivers spirited performances that blend jazz with elements of soul, funk, and world music. Beyond performing, he is deeply committed to music education, contributing significantlythe Oaktown Jazz Workshops and lecturing internationally through his JazzTree Education program. His discography features albums like Burkina anMoon Over Tiburonwhich showcase his innovative compositions and the talents of his ensemble.
