Show: 8:30 PM Renowned Black Olive Jazz vocalist, actress, and Stanford University lecturer Kay Kostopoulos returns from her New York residency to musically explore spoken excerpts from Homer’s Odyssey and jazz songs featuring legendary women including Delilah, Circe, Cleopatra, and Persephone.
Blending jazz standards, theatrical storytelling, Mediterranean rhythms, and Turkish finger cymbals, Kay brings these complex heroines, enchantresses, and mythological figures to life through her distinctive voice and imaginative interpretation.
Her performances have taken her to leading New York venues including Birdland, 54 Below, Arthur’s Tavern, and Bryant Park, as well as jazz festivals throughout the Bay Area.
For this special evening, Kay will be joined by acclaimed New York pianist and arranger John DiMartino and Bay Area saxophone legend Noel Jewkes.
