About the event

Born and raised in Fremont, California, Tim Lin has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling young tenor saxophonists of his generation. A Taiwanese-American artist whose sound bridges bebop roots and modern lyricism, Lin’s playing reflects both deep respect for jazz history and a forward-looking creative energy.

Guided early on by Bay Area saxophonist Dann Zinn, Tim discovered a lifelong passion for jazz and the discipline of daily craft. His journey led him to the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where he studied on scholarship under the world-renowned saxophonist Bob Sheppard. During his time in Los Angeles, Lin performed with the award-winning USC Thornton Jazz Orchestra led by Bob Mintzer and the USC Honors Combo under Jason Goldman.

A finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute (now the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz) and runner-up at the International Taichung Saxophone Competition, Lin has already shared the stage with legends including Kenny…
