Meyhouse Jazz proudly presents The B Sides of Bop, a hard-swinging, deeply informed exploration of jazz’s hidden treasures led by saxophonist Patrick Wolff and featuring master drummer Matt Wilson.
Both Wolff and Wilson are lifelong students and collectors of jazz lore—records, stories, and the lesser-known compositions that often reveal an artist’s most daring ideas. Rather than focusing on the chart-toppers, this project shines a light on the “B-side” tunes: overlooked gems that showcase the creative depth of composers like Clifford Jordan, Elmo Hope, Andrew Hill, and Kenny Dorham.
The music spans bebop, hard bop, and beyond, delivered with conviction, joy, and fearless improvisation. Wolff’s playing is rooted in lyricism and a deep embrace of the full jazz lineage, while Matt Wilson—widely regarded as one of the greatest drummers and bandleaders in jazz today—brings his unmistakable energy, wit, and rhythmic brilliance to the bandstand.
