About the event
Sandy Cressman’s Homenagem Brasileira celebrates the depth and diversity of Brazil’s musical traditions, from the quiet lyricism of bossa nova to the rhythmic energy of samba jazz and the vibrant sounds of Brazil’s Northeast.
Drawing from composers such as Antônio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, and Dori Caymmi, the program moves fluidly between classic repertoire and contemporary works, shaped by Cressman’s expressive voice and deep connection to the music.
A leading interpreter of Brazilian jazz, Cressman brings a warm, rhythmic, and deeply personal approach to the repertoire, joined by an outstanding ensemble of Bay Area musicians. Together, they create an evening that is both refined and full of life—music that invites listening, movement, and connection.
Featuring:
Sandy Cressman – voice, percussion
