Award-winning vocalist Dr. Kim Nalley has long been one of the defining voices of the San Francisco jazz scene. Honored as one of the “Most Influential African Americans in the Bay Area,” Nalley has also been described as a “San Francisco institution” for her distinctive voice, commanding stage presence, and deep roots in jazz and blues.

Discovered by legendary conductor Michael Tilson Thomas while singing to packed audiences without amplification, Nalley was later invited to perform Gershwin with the San Francisco Symphony. She went on to become a Rounder Records recording artist and tour internationally, appearing at Lincoln Center, Monterey Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, and concert halls around the world.

Known for her extraordinary 3½-octave range, Nalley moves effortlessly from intimate ballads to hard-swinging jazz and gritty blues. Her performances combine remarkable vocal power, deep swing, spontaneous improvisation, and an unmistakable connection with the audience.
