About the event
Meyhouse Jazz presents Latin Heart & Soul, featuring vocalist and percussionist Omar Ledezma.
The program draws from well-loved Latin standards including “Sobre tu Playa,” “Moliendo Café,” “Guantanamera,” and “María Cervantes,” alongside timeless mambos, cha-chas, boleros, sambas, and bossa novas. These songs carry stories of celebration and longing, shaped by strong rhythm and memorable melody.
The influence of artists such as Cal Tjader and Chucho Valdés can be heard in the balance between groove and improvisation—where clear melodic lines meet a steady pulse and space is left for musical conversation.
Joined by Murray Low on piano, David Pinto on bass, Josh Jones on percussion, and Michael O’Neill on saxophones, Ledezma appears in a small ensemble setting that allows each voice to be heard clearly and each moment to unfold naturally.
