Peruvian-American pianist, composer, and arranger Erick Peralta brings together the language of American jazz and the vibrant rhythmic traditions of Afro-Latin music for an evening of inventive, deeply expressive music.
Drawing from his Peruvian heritage and a wide-ranging jazz vocabulary, Peralta approaches the music with a strong sense of rhythm, improvisation, and personal storytelling. The program features his original compositions alongside fresh arrangements of music associated with jazz icons including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, and Chick Corea.
Rather than simply revisiting familiar repertoire, Peralta and his ensemble reshape it through an Afro-Latin lens—bringing new rhythmic energy, unexpected textures, and a distinctive musical perspective to each piece.
Expect an evening where American jazz tradition meets Afro-Latin groove, driven by spontaneous interplay and the energy of a dynamic four-piece ensemble.
