Acclaimed tenor saxophonist and composer Dennis Mitcheltree comes to Meyhouse Jazz with music from his new album, Seeing Red, releasing October 2, 2026.
A veteran of the New York and Los Angeles jazz scenes, Mitcheltree has performed and recorded with an extraordinary roster of artists including Clark Terry, Gary Bartz, George Cables, Kenny Werner, Bill Holman, John Clayton, Joe La Barbera, Ingrid Jensen, and many others. He recorded with Janelle Monáe on The Age of Pleasure, nominated for Album of the Year at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards.
For Seeing Red, Mitcheltree reunites with his long-standing quartet of nearly three decades, channeling intense socio-political emotions into a rich and empathetic sonic spectrum designed to move beyond anger toward reflection, connection, and the interconnectedness of the human experience.
