Described as a “composer with great vision” (All About Jazz) and a “flute virtuoso” (The Boston Globe), Christian Artmann brings his stellar quintet to Meyhouse Jazz for a night of fearless, genre-transcending music. This special performance features long-time collaborators and world-class musicians Laszlo Gardony (piano), Jeff Denson (bass), Yoron Israel (drums), and Elena McEntire (vocals).
Rooted in contemporary jazz but deeply informed by European classical, Eastern European folk, Brazilian rhythms, progressive rock, and Buddhist philosophy, Artmann’s music has been praised for its emotional clarity, technical brilliance, and expansive musical storytelling. His 2023 release The Middle of Life (Sunnyside Records) drew comparisons to Return to Forever and was lauded for its “refined melancholy,” “sophisticated taste,” and “stimulating compositions.”
