“Hits on a Journey” (Oltreoceano: Le Hits in Viaggio) is a storytelling concert exploring the cultural dialogue between Italy and the United States through songs that became transatlantic hits.
The program revisits the 1950s and ’60s phenomenon in which American Motown, pop, and early rock ’n’ roll songs were adapted into Italian, including “I’m a Believer” (“Sono Bugiarda”) and “It’s a Lonely Town” (“Città Vuota”). At the same time, Italian repertoire also traveled abroad and was reimagined in English, as with “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” originally “Io che non vivo (senza te).” Through this exchange, the same melodies developed parallel identities across languages, shaped by two distinct cultural contexts.
